Spread Bet Roulette is a form of live roulette offered by Playtech that also includes an additional bet type called a ‘Spread Bet’. This bet is totally optional and can be placed as well as, or instead of, the main roulette game.
You can play this online casino game here at Spin Genie.
The original version of Spread Bet Roulette was made by Cammegh – a UK based manufacturer of casino tables and gaming equipment. Their version was intended for the casino floor with a digital display providing the second reel and the output of the side bet total.
The game has a digital roulette wheel on screen which is linked to the dealer’s physical roulette wheel. The digital wheel has an additional gold inner ring with the same number combinations numbered 0-36. The second wheel spins in the opposite direction to the main wheel.
The digital wheel spins during betting time and will slow down, stop and lock in place before the main physical wheel has finished spinning, it’s the gold inner ring that players need to pay attention to.
When both wheels have come to a complete stop the number on the gold wheel is added up with the adjacent number on the main wheel to make the spread bet total.
In total there are seven additional betting options in comparison to normal roulette bets, these are spread bets. Players can bet on what they think the combined total of both roulette wheels will be. Payouts range from 1/1 (Evens) to 400/1.
Playtech is definitely raising the classic roulette tables on an entirely new level, introducing a higher payout potential of (in this case) up to x400 player’s bet. The concept is pretty original – so far, Playtech is the only developer that has introduced this type of bet in a studio-streamed roulette session, but it is probably a question of time before other developers will replicate the structure.
